What was I thinking…I thought I had the whole internet marketing thing down to a “T” as we would say in Jamaica but boy was I wrong. I had a network of websites ticking over nicely and with very clear ideas of where I was headed. Just when I thought everything is was perfect, I had top positions on google with some and I was getting steady pageviews on others with signups to my business at intervals, life has a habit of throwing you a curve ball, doesn’t it…or in cricket we would say a googly

About a month ago I was hacked. I would have to grudgingly admit that the hacker did a great job – not only were all my files deleted and my domain hijacked, all the databases were corrupted too. I’ve always been an advocate of ‘if you’re going to do something, do it well’ and this is something the hacker certainly did. Respect for his thoroughness wouldn’t stop me kicking him/her in you know where, however, thats if he/she ever comes out of his/her bedroom, that is…..
The affected domains were blacklisted on google and I lost my rankings for the keywords that I targeted, but with good advice from friends and a very competent google staff I had things resolved and my sites are no longer blacklisted. Only time will tell how soon I will be competitive for the keywords I had ranked so well for again.
Rebuilding the domains are going to be a far larger ordeal than I first imagined so apologies to my prospective visitors. The household bills won’t wait, however, so I started looking around for alternatives to keep the wolves from the door.
Unless you’ve been hiding under a rock, you couldn’t have failed to notice the launch of revenue sharing advertising sites that are saturating the internet but I can tell you about two that I have been a member of, one for the past 3 years and the other only recently and I joined that one because it is being run by Brian Rooney the owner of trafficwave.com, and you must have lived under a rock if you do not know of the success of that company. These programs on their own will not make you financially free but if you are down on luck in finances you can pick up a pretty penny from them if worked properly without the need to spend any money out of pocket.
These are programs I would have normally overlooked for a number of reasons. Having heard seasoned marketers bad mouth these programs calling them no good mainly because the concept is new and was never tested and tried, hence my hesitation for years to participate fully in these programs as I wasn’t particularly interested in exploring the concept more – I was headed in a completely different direction.
With the world and his wife raving about these programs, I had no intention of being a ‘me too’.
Too many years online had left me more than a little skeptical about systems that claimed to be turn-key. After all, what was left for me to do if it’s all done for me?
